I've been busy these past few months working on edits for the sequel to Circus Maximus: Race to the Death, which is due to be published in March 2022. Meanwhile, it's been great visiting some more bookshops like Mr B's Emporium and Topping Books in Bath, and signing some copies. I was delighted to hear that Race to the Death had been mentioned in The Bookseller by the wonderful Octavia of Octavia's Bookshop in Cirencester, where they are hand selling it. And I almost fell off my chair mid-May when Dan Snow, historian, broadcaster and presenter of the brilliant History Hit podcast, gave me a shout out on Twitter and said he'd been reading the book with his daughter and they were (I quote) 'loving it'. Fantastic news also that it was flagged as a reader favourite in the 13 + category in Toppsta's newsletter on their 100 Best Children's Books of the Year So Far. And I'll be rounding off the month of June with my first festival appearance as a children's author, speaking on the topic of Circus Maximus: The Deadly Roman Sport of Charioteering at the Chalke Valley History Festival on Saturday June 26th! Fingers crossed for sunshine....
