Finally! I was able to have a book launch, this time to celebrate the beautiful shiny paperback edition of Circus Maximus: Race to the Death. (The venue - where else? - was the private subterranean setting of The Stables at The Riding House Cafe in London.) Those who grab themselves a copy of the paperback will also be able to read the first chapter of Rivals on the Track - the thrilling sequel to Race to the Death, which publishes in February 2022, with a spectacular cover by Stephen McNally. I'm also delighted to report that my wonderful publisher Zephyr has commissioned two more Circus Maximus titles from me and I'm hard at work on book 3 now. In the meantime, I'm enjoying the chance to start meeting readers at bookshops, schools and festivals and September is culminating with my first appearance at the Bath Children's Literary Festival. My workshop, Bringing Roman Bath to Life, will give children an insight into how I create as vivid a portrait as possible of the world of Roman chariot racing in the Circus Maximus series before helping them come up with their own characters and stories from ancient Rome to write about, using the site of Roman Bath as inspiration.
